Sept. 29, 2006
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's soccer team looks to break a five-game winless streak on Saturday as they open the Atlantic Sun schedule against cross-town rival North Florida at UNF Soccer Stadium. Kickoff between the two schools is set for 5 p.m.
The Dolphins (2-6-1) will be in search of its third consecutive Dennis Violett Memorial Cup against the Ospreys and will also look to tie the standings in the second annual SunTrust River City Rumble.
"It's a new part of the season where everyone starts at 0-0," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "This allows up to an opportunity to refocus and start looking towards our goal of winning the conference championship.
"This game is also the most important game on our schedule after winning two straight Dennis Violett Memorial Cups and having the match for a point in the SunTrust River City Rumble standings."
Last season, Tommy Krizanovic added two goals to help the Dolphins down the Ospreys, 4-2, and win their second Dennis Violett Memorial Cup in the home finale at the Ashley Sports Complex.
