JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The men's soccer team defeated USC Upstate 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex, giving the Dolphins their third straight victory.

Junior forward Sebastian Lindholm was the hero for the Dolphins, scoring three of the goals and assisting the other for head coach Mike Johnson's squad.

"I was excited for Sebastian, he's been so close," said Johnson. "I knew he was a very capable goal scorer and I think this did a lot for his confidence as well as showing our team that we have two very good forwards. I hope this is a start of more goals to come for him."

Lindholm opened the scoring in the 19th minute after his shot from just outside of the box found the bottom right hand corner of the net. Senior defender Brian Cocciolo picked up the assist on the goal after he played a long ball from the back to the feet of Lindholm.

The Dolphins were up 2-0 just 45 seconds later, as a pass from sophomore midfielder Stefan Runeman was flicked on by senior forward Anton Axelsson right into the path of Lindholm who one-timed it past USC Upstate's freshman goalie Jason McCabe.

In the 27th minute Lindholm went from scorer to provider, as his corner kick was headed in by Cocciolo, raised above the Spartan defenders to claim his first goal of the season.

After a good period of pressure, the Spartans were rewarded with a 43rd minute goal by senior midfielder Kim Krohn.

Lindholm completed his hattrick in the 82nd minute he headed in a Axelsson's flick on from sophomore defender Eddie Munnelly's cross.

"We're extremely pleased with both wins this weekend," Johnson said. "That was our goal coming into the season coming in - to protect our home field and get results. The guys were very business like and we feel we accomplished what we set out to do. Today, with the four goals, it shows that our attacking players are starting to get in a rhythm and finishing our opportunities.

"We've got a big week with two tough conference games on the road at Campbell and Mercer. We're looking to go in and get results in our first conference road weekend."

The Dolphins will continue their A-Sun schedule this weekend, taking on Campbell at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in Buies Creek, N.C. and Mercer on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Macon, Ga.
