Men's soccer defeats Mercer 2-1

MACON, Ga. - JU men's soccer team defeated Mercer on Saturday night by a score of 2-1 in Macon, Ga.
Senior forward Anton Axelsson scored both goals for the Dolphins, giving him six on the season. He now leads the conference in points (15).
Axelsson's first goal came in the 16th minute off a penalty kick and his second goal came in the 47th minute after he slotted home a pass from sophomore defender Patrick Rundio.
Junior goalkeeper Joey Sanchez picked up the win after he recorded two saves for the Dolphins.
"I'm happy with the way the guys rebounded from a tough loss Thursday," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "I think it is showing the maturity of this team and the focus they have in trying to win the championship."
Freshman midfielder Ian Cameron cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 51st minute, but the Dolphins managed to hold off the pressure and take home the victory.
The Dolphins will be action again on Friday, taking on Florida Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
