Men's soccer falls to UNF in double-overtime heartbreaker

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU men's soccer team fell in a heartbreaking loss to UNF 2-1 in double-overtime Wednesday night at the Ashley Sports Complex in the first event of this year's SunTrust River City Rumble.
The Osprey's took the lead in the 58th minute from a goal by midfielder freshman midfielder Adam O'Neil.
The Dolphins equalized just four minutes later, after junior midfielder Philipp Meyner's free kick was flicked on by senior forward Anton Axelsson into the path of freshman midfielder Nedim Hrustic, who fired home from close range.
The Dolphins piled on the pressure but were unable to break the deadlock with the score being tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Freshman forward Akil DeFreitas then scored on a breakaway with 106 minutes gone in the game to claim the victory for UNF.
The Dolphins will be back in action on Friday, taking on Presbyterian at the Ashley Sports Complex at 7 p.m.
