Oct. 25, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's soccer team concludes their 2007 A-Sun schedule this weekend with Atlantic Sun matches against Lipscomb on Friday at 7 p.m. and Belmont at 1 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.

The Dolphins currently sit in second place in the A-Sun standings, trailing Campbell by one point. The Camels only have one A-Sun game remaining - a Saturday road game against Mercer. The Dolphins will control their own fate but could get some extra help with a Campbell loss.

"Obviously, this is a huge weekend for us," said JU head coach Mike Johnson. "We were in first place up until this past weekend and we are one of the few teams that can control their own destiny. Both Lipscomb and Belmont are very tough opponents and have a lot to play for. We expect both matches to be very tough and our kids know what's at stake."

Belmont (5-7-2, 4-4 A-Sun) is coached by Earle Davidson, who in his 11th season and has directed the Bears for every year of the program's existence. Senior midfielder Justin Mooneyhan has five goals and two assists to lead the Bears' offense. Sophomore goalkeeper Ron Gravely leads the A-Sun with five shutouts and was named A-Sun Defensive "Player of the Week" on Oct. 23.

Lipscomb (5-6-3, 4-1-2 A-Sun) is led by freshman forward Miguel DaSilva who has eight goals this season and is fresh off a hat-trick against Stetson on Oct. 21, which earned him A-Sun "Player of the Week" honors. Senior goalkeeper Jake Goergan leads the A-Sun in saves and is a mainstay in the net for head coach Charles Morrow's squad.

The Dolphins will be in action again against Flagler on Nov. 3, wrapping up their 2007 home schedule at 7 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
