Men's soccer shutsout Lipscomb 3-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The JU men's soccer team regained first-place in the Atlantic Sun standings after shutting out Lipscomb 3-0 Friday night in Nashville, Tenn.

Senior forward Anton Axelsson opened the scoring in the 21st minute after he powerfully headed home junior forward Sebastian Lindholm's pin point cross. Axelsson now has 11 goals on the season, five of which have been game-winners.

Junior midfielder Phillip Meyner made it 2-0 in the 56th minute and then assisted sophomore midfielder Stefan Runeman's first goal of the season in the 63rd minute to wrap up the scoring.

Freshman goalkeeper Matt Gilman made eight saves for the Dolphins to record his third shutout of the season.

The Dolphins passed Campbell in the standings and control their own destiny. If the Dolphins win their final A-Sun game, they will win the Atlantic Sun regular season title. Campbell plays its final A-Sun game of the regular season tomorrow at Mercer.

The Dolphins will be in action again on Sunday, taking on Belmont at 1 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.
