Men's tennis drops season opener to FAU, 6-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Jacksonville men's tennis team opened its 2007 season on Sunday with a 6-1 loss against Florida Atlantic at Patch Reef Park.

The Dolphins (0-1) lost three of the singles matches in three sets, with Jordi Ballester falling to #61 Olivier Sajous, 6-2, 6-7 (5), 6-4. Ernesto Ramos claimed the lone win for the Dolphins, knocking off Daniel Vardag in the No. 4 singles match, 7-6 (1), 6-1.

"We played a very tough match today, taking three of the singles matches to three sets," said JU head coach Jarod Camerota. "We didn't play well in doubles which hurt us. It was a good match to get the season started and something that we can build on for the rest of the season."
