Men's Tennis earns win against Appalachian State, 5-2

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Dolphins (6-4, 1-3 A-Sun) faced Appalachian State Sunday afternoon, after the dedication of the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex, defeating the Mountaineers 5-2.

Ernesto Ramos and Francisco Riveroll teamed up in No. 1 doubles to defeat Constance and Brookshaw, 8-6, starting the dolphins off right. They also earned two more points for JU, Riveroll defeating Brookshaw, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3, in No. 2 singles, while Ramos took on Jacobs, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 4 singles.

Jordi Ballester and Victor Vaz followed their leading, securing the doubles point by defeating Dimitrov and Jacobs, 8-2, in the No. 2 spot. Ballester went on to add a fourth point to the dolphins total, defeating Constance, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, in No. 1 singles.

Marcos Oliveira finished off singles play for JU, defeating Doverspike, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 in No. 6 singles. "We fought hard in singles," said head coach Jarod Camerota. "We play great high energy doubles. It was a good win because Appalachian State is a good team."

The Dolphins return to the court Monday, March 12, taking on Eastern Kentucky at 2:30 pm in the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.
