Yolisha Jackson Records Her 700th Career Point in a 69-57 Loss to Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - JU junior forward Yolisha Jackson (Clarksville, Tenn.) recorded the 700th point of her career and her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while junior guard Rebecca Montz (Erath, La.) had 14 points, shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the arc but it wasn't enough as JU lost 69-57 to Fordham at Rose Hill Gymnasium Saturday.

Sophomore guard Sheena Carpenter (Augusta, Ga.) added 11 points and five rebounds, while freshman center Talia Johnson (Sardis, Ga.) had five points, five rebounds and a block.

Fordham took a 16 point lead to start the second half after a 16-6 run before JU clawed back to within 11, thanks to two points from Jackson and Montz, and a long three-pointer from freshman forward Meagan Wallen (Leesburg, Ind.), making it 52-41 at 9:41. Fordham kept the lead in double-digits thanks to Monica Mack and Lauren Fleischer, who finished with 19 and 15 points respectively.

Fordham jumped out to a 15-8 lead before Carpenter hit a pull-up jumper and Jackson nailed a three-pointer to close the gap to 15-13. Mack responded for the Rams by converting a three-point play before Jackson hit her second three-pointer in less than a minute top bring JU back, 18-16. Mack kicked off a 14-6 Fordham run, with a big three-pointer, giving the Rams their largest lead of the game at 32-22 with 3:05 remaining in the first half but the Dolphins didn't wilt, outscoring Fordham 6-0 down the stretch behind two points from Johnson and four points from Montz, including her third three-pointer of the afternoon to make it 32-28 at the half.

JU resumes action against UNC-Asheville on Monday, Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
