Women's basketball to support breast cancer this week

Oct. 6, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU women's basketball team will take an active stance in the fight against breast cancer by selling yogurt for donations in the "Lick a Lid" event on Thursday through Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the JU cafeteria. The Dolphins will also host a booth at the home football game against Morehead State on Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This will mark the second consecutive year in which the women' basketball program has participated in the event.

"We are proud to sponsor of this event because it's a very good cause," said JU women's basketball head coach Jill Dunn. "There are a lot of people who are battling this particular type of cancer and we have a responsibility to try and help out in any way that we can."

For a dollar, participants can purchase a single cup of Yoplait yogurt and lick the lid to support research for breast cancer. For each lid that is licked, Yoplait will match a dollar for the same donation.

The event will also take a five dollar donation for each participant who wears jeans to work during the week.
