Men's tennis drops season opener to Embry-Riddle, 8-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The JU men's tennis team opened its 2008 campaign on the road, falling to Embry-Riddle, 8-1.

Jordi Ballester picked up the Dolphins lone point with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 win at the No. 1 singles position.

"Embry-Riddle is a very good program and this was a good test for our guys," said head coach Shane Wood. "We've got a lot of work to do, but we know what we've got to build on in the next few matches."

Marcos Oliveira dropped a heartbreaker in three sets. After dropping the first set, 6-2, he rallied with a 6-4 win to force a third set, which he lost 10-4.

The Dolphins return to the court on Feb. 8 at Georgia Southern. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
