Men's tennis drops two over the weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's tennis team dropped two matches over the weekend, falling at Georgia Southern and South Florida.
The Dolphins (0-3) lost 5-2 at Georgia Southern on Friday and lost 7-0 at South Florida on Sunday.
In the Georgia Southern (2-3) match, Marcos Oliviera and Alberto Lopez picked up the two points for the Dolphins with wins in singles. Oliviera won 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 4 match with Lopez winning his debut, 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 6 match.
The match saw JU lose two heartbreakers in three sets. After winning the first set in a tiebreaker, Victor Vaz lost the final two sets in the No. 2 match, 6-3, 6-2. Francisco Riveroll fell behind a set in the No. 3 match, 7-5, but rallied to take the second set, 6-3, before falling in the third set, 6-3.
Vaz and Lopez teamed up to win the No. 2 doubles match, 9-7, but the Dolphins were unable to win the other two matches as the Eagles secured the doubles point.
Against South Florida, the Dolphins took one of the three doubles matches, with Jordi Ballester and Riveroll teaming up to win the No. 1 match in a tiebreaker, 9-8.
The Bulls (2-2) swept the six singles matches to complete the shutout. Lopez had the best result for the Dolphins, dropping the No. 6 match 6-0, 7-5.
Jacksonville is back in action on Friday as they host Hofstra. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex.
