Women's Golf Places 11th at Gamecock Golf Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - JU senior Pamela Shelley (Alachua, Fla.) tied for 19th place with her score of 17-over-par 163 (82-81) as the Dolphins fired a 704 (361-343) to finish 11th out of 13 teams at the Gamecock Golf Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State University. East Tennessee State University won the tourney by eight strokes with a 614 (313-301) on the par-73, 5,995-yard course at the Silver Lakes Golf Course in Calhoun Co, Ala. Jacksonville State's Marilen Ruiz won a playoff against ETSU's Ashley Barton to earn medalist honors.
Dolphin senior Melissa Holland (Jacksonville/First Coast) tied for 25th after shooting a 166 (85-81), while freshman Heather Fudge (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) shot a 177 (95-82) to finish 50th. Freshman Jennifer Sills (Cedar Park, Texas) fired a 198 (99-99) to place 64th, while freshman Deborah Jessurum (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) finished 67th with a score of 304 (148-156).
JU's next tournament is the Coca-Cola C2 Wofford Invitational, set for Oct. 11-12.
