DeBARY, Fla. - Therese Karlsson's seven-over par 79 led the JU women's golf team as the Dolphins carded a round of 325 with only four players to finish in 11th after the first round of the DeBary Intercollegiate on the par-72 DeBary Country Club.

Minnesota leads the team competition after posting a 298 with four players finishing in the top 10. Florida Atlantic's P. Phol-unayporn leads the individual competition with a one-under par 71.

"With the injuries we've suffered and playing shorthanded, this is a good round for us," said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. "Vicki really stepped up today when we needed her, which the whole team fed off of during the day."

Karlsson posted a 41 on the front side but responded with a two-over par 38 on the back side to finish in a tie for 26th.

Heather Fudge finished just a shot back of Karlsson, posting an eight-over par 80, with a 39 on the front side and a 41 on the back nine to finish in a tie for 33rd.

Camilla Loveid tied for 46th with an 82, going out in 40 and closing with a 42. Vicki Nektheden carded a career-best 84 to tie for 54th.

The Dolphins wrap up the tournament on Monday morning starting at 8 a.m.
