SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Jessica Green and Camilla Loeveid both carded a four-over par 76 to lead the Jacksonville women's golf team to a tie for third after the first round of the Diet Coke Wofford Invitational.
The Dolphins total of 319 has JU trailing host Wofford by 11 entering the final round. Atlantic Sun Conference rival Gardner-Webb is in second at 313.
Gardner-Webb's Claudine Foong and Wofford's Erin Wells lead the individual competition after posting a two-over par 74.
"We got off to a strong start and carried us throughout the round," said JU assistant coach Pamela Shelley. "Camilla and Jessica played really well and have us in position for a good finish tomorrow."
Green's round is the best so far this season. She opened the tournament by going out in three-over and closed strong, going one-over par on the back nine.
Loeveid's round was the opposite of Green's, starting out with a one-over par front nine and finishing with a three-over par back nine.
The duo is tied for sixth entering the final round.
Therese Karlsson is in the top 20 as well, tying for 16th after a round of 82. Alexandra Andersen is just outside the top 20 as she is tied for 21st with an 85 in the opening round.
Heather Fudge carded a round of 88 and is in 25th place.
The Dolphins wrap up the tournament on Tuesday morning.
