Dolphins Impressive In Loss To Gators

Jacksonville, Fla. - The University of Florida broke open a tight match with two late goals and went on to defeat Jacksonville University 3-0 in front of 324 at the Ashley Sports Complex. The Dolphins had an attempt on goal bounce off the post in the first half and trailed UF 1-0 at the break. The scored remained 1-0 until the eighty second minute when the Gators broke through. Another late score provided the final margin. Despite the loss, JU goalkeeper Melissa Cancio played well with nine saves.

Jacksonville has one more exhibition match before the regular season begins, The Dolphins will host Flagler College on Friday, August 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex on the JU Campus. The match is free to the public.

The regular season begins on Thursday, September 2, when JU takes on College of Charleston in the Nike Invitational. The four day Nike Invitational is an eight team, men's and women's, soccer event taking place at the Ashley Sports Complex. Women's matches are on Thursday and Saturday while the men compete on Friday and Sunday.
