Michael ( ) enters his first season as the women's soccer coach at JU. It is not his first season with the school as he was an assistant coach from 1985-87.
Johnson has a varied coaching background on all levels. He came to JU from Ed White High School in Jacksonville where he was head soccer coach.

He has served as head coach for two professional teams with the Charleston Lightning (1997) of the E.I.S.L., and the Jacksonville Fury (1994-95) of the U.S.I.S.L.

His playing experience includes a four-year career at JU where he was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection, team captain and a member of the Florida Intercollegiate All-Star team. He played professionally with the Tulsa Tornado (1985) of the U.S.L., and the Jacksonville Fury (1993-94) of the U.S.I.S.L.
He has extensive experience in coaching club teams. His clubs have won two state championships and finished as runners-up six times.

Johnson resides in Jacksonville and has three children: Tyler, Kyle and Kailee.
