October 6, 1999

Jacksonville, Fla. - Four different Seminoles scored goals as Florida State (7-5) avenged a 1998 home loss by defeating Jacksonville (5-5) by the score of 4-1 in women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon.

Florida State opened the game's scoring at 23:19 when junior Stephanie Dietrich converted a corner-kick from senior Angela Bonaffino. Just 1:21 later, the Seminoles once again turned a corner-kick into a goal as junior Ashley Halter gave Bonaffino her second assist of the game.

Trailing 2-0, Jacksonville responded with their only goal at the 39:59 mark when sophomore Yvonna Rowinski scored her first goal of the year off a corner-kick from junior Marit Foss. However, the Dolphins' momentum was short lived as FSU rebuilt their two goal lead just :21 later on a goal by freshman Janey Halberg. Classmate Kelly Robinson picked up an assist on the goal.

With a commanding 3-1 lead in hand, Seminole junior goalkeeper Sarah Crawford controlled the play in the Florida State defensive zone as Jacksonville pushed all ten of their field players forward into the offensive attack. The Seminoles capitalized on the Dolphins aggressiveness at the 81:33 mark, sealing the game with a goal from sophomore Maren Vik Edvardsen. Halter picked up the assist for the Seminoles, her third point of the match.

Crawford was credited with one save in the match, while Jacksonville freshman Kristen Kirsch posted five saves in the defeat.

The Dolphins will return to action Friday, October 8th at 4:00 P.M. when they travel to Georgia Southern for their second straight non-conference match.
