Jacksonville Deals Campbell First TAAC Loss In Women's Soccer Action

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The Campbell University women's soccer team dropped its Trans America Athletic Conference opener by a score of 3-1 to Jacksonville University on Saturday.

The Camels fell to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in the league, while JU improved to 3-3 on the year and 1-1 in TAAC play.

Trine Riis Groven put the Dolphins on the board first in the 24th minute off an assist from Marit Foss. In the second half, Linn Thommassen crossed the ball to Stine Kloster at 47:31 to give JU a 2-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Brooke Moore headed the ball into the net off a corner kick from Foss.

Senior Diana Griffin scored the Camels' only goal at 58:15. She put the ball in the far corner of the net from 18 yards out after stealing it from a Jacksonville defender.

The Camels return to action on Sept. 23 at Central Florida in Orlando. Game time is set for 4:00 pm. Meanwhile Jacksonville will return to action Tuesday, September 21st at home when they take on South Florida.
