July 7, 2000
Jacksonville, Fla. - Furman University (3-0) got a goal in the 8th minute of overtime to defeat Jacksonville (1-1) by the score of 3-2 in the championship game of the 1999 Nike/JU Legends Tournament at the Ashley Sports Complex here Saturday afternoon. In the day's opening game, South Florida (2-2) scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to defeat The College of Charleston (0-3) by the score of 3-1.
Jacksonville wasted no time in jumping to the lead as junior Stine Kloster scored an unassisted goal just 36 seconds into the championship game. Furman struck back in the game's 18th minute as sophomore Melissa Turner converted a pass from classmate Kaye Brownlee to knot the game at 1-1.
