Marit Foss Earns National, Conference Honors
Sept. 8, 2000
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) received national and conference recognition, earning TAAC co-Offensive Player of the Week honors and being named a member of Soccer America's National Team of the Week.
It was the first time in JU history that a member of the women's soccer team earned National Team-of-the-Week recognition. Last week, Foss had two goals and 10 assists as she helped the Dolphins (4-1) win the UCF/Kappa Invitational with victories over Alabama A&M and Florida International.
"We're all very proud of Marit," head coach Mike Johnson said. "She's well deserving of the honor, and hopefully this will be the first of many more opportunities for her and the team to be recognized."
Foss shared TAAC Player of the Week honors with Mercer's Anne-Marie Lapalme after both players tied an NCAA record with six assists in a single match. Foss had six assists and a goal in a 10-0 win over Alabama A&M while Lapalme tallied six assists in a 19-0 win against South Carolina State.
Foss, who holds JU career records for assists (54), points (161) shots (154) and matches started (63), has four goals and 12 assists so far during the 2000 season.
