Senior forward Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway) scored three goals and was named tournament MVP as the Jacksonville University women's soccer team defeated Buffalo 4-3, winning the Holiday Inn Express Invitational hosted by Stony Brook Sunday afternoon.
Kloster was named Tournament MVP after scoring a total of five goals in the two games. Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway), Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) and Yvonna Rowinski (Los Angeles, Calif.) were also named to the All-Tournament team.
The win marked the Dolphin's sixth consecutive win, a school record, as they improved their record to 7-1 on the season. Buffalo dropped to 5-3.
After being down 3-1 at the half, JU began its comeback in the 59th minute as Kloster took a Riis Groven pass and scored to cut Buffalo's lead to 3-2. Just over ten minutes later, Foss would tie the score at 3 off of a corner kick. The Dolphins took the lead at the 73:41 mark when Kloster scored her third goal of the match from a Dianne Scott (Houston, Texas) cross.
Buffalo opened the scoring at the 3:15 mark when Nicole Olszewski converted a pass from Emily Russell. Jennifer Keefe would score in the 18th minute to give the Bulls a 2-1 lead. Buffalo's final goal came just before halftime by Elizabeth Pfeffer.
The Dolphins return to action Friday, Sept. 22 as they host Georgia State in a Trans America Athletic Conference match at 4 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
