Senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) scored 41 seconds into the first half to lead the Jacksonville University women's soccer team to its seventh straight victory as the Dolphins opened TAAC play with a 5-0 victory over Georgia State Friday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex.

With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 8-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in TAAC play. The Lady Panthers fall to 2-7-1, 0-2-0. Sophomore goalkeepers Melissa Cancio (Hialeah, Fla.) and Kristen Kirsch (Green Bay, Wisc.) combined to keep Georgia State scoreless as the Dolphins recorded their fifth shut-out of the season.

Junior defender Yvonna Rowinski (Los Angeles, Calif.) scored off of a Foss corner kick to put the Dolphins up 2-0 to end the first half at the 11:58 mark.

Junior forward Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway) opened the scoring in the second half at 47:06 off a Foss corner kick and Rowinski pass. Erin Bitterli (St. Petersburg, Fla.), a freshman, scored from a wide-open pass from Riis Groven at the 74:56 mark. JU's final goal came with less than seven minutes left in the contest when freshman midfielder Erika Chapman (Bradenton, Fla.) took a Karen Novak (Coral Springs, Fla.) pass and sailed it over the head of Georgia State's goalkeeper Jennifer Espinal.

The Dolphins return to action Sunday, Sept. 24 when they take on TAAC foe Mercer at 1 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
