The Jacksonville University women's soccer team scored four goals in the second half, as the Dolphins defeated TAAC opponent Mercer, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex.

With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 9-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in TAAC play. The win extends the Dolphins school-record winning streak to eight games. The loss drops the Bears to 2-8-1 on the year, 0-3-0 in league play.

Junior defender Yvonna Rowinski (Los Angeles, Calif.) opened the scoring five minutes into the second half off an assist by Vanessa Illanes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.). Mercer tied the score at one apiece as Anna Bengston's penalty kick just got by Dolphin's goalkeeper Melissa Cancio (Hialeah, Fla.).

The tie was short lived however, as senior forward Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway) put the Dolphins ahead for good 18 seconds later.

Junior forward Trine Riis Groven's (Skien, Norway) header off of a Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway) corner kick added the Dolphin's third goal at 70:43. JU's final goal came with less than eight minutes left in the contest when junior forward Karen Novak (Coral Springs, Fla.) took a breakaway pass and beat Mercer's goalkeeper Genevieve Reid in a one-on-one situation.

The Dolphins return to action Wednesday, Sept. 27 when they take on TAAC foe Stetson at 4 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
