Women's Soccer Outlasts Miami, 4-3, in Double Overtime

Junior forward Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway) scored at 122:54 in the second overtime of the match to lead the Jacksonville University women's soccer team, 4-3, over the University of Miami Sunday afternoon at the Miami Soccer Complex.

With the win, the Dolphins improve their record to 11-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 in TAAC play. The victory extends the Dolphins' school-record winning streak to ten matches. The loss drops the Hurricanes to 6-6-0 on the year.

Senior midfielder Dianne Scott (Houstonn, Texas) scored at the last second of regulation to tie the game at three and send it into overtime. Neither team would score in the first overtime, sending the game into a second 15-minute period.

Riis Groven scored JU's first goal at 56:40 off of an assist from senior forward Marit Foss (Hamresanden, Norway). Foss would score less than nine minutes later off a pass from senior forward Stine Kloster (Stavanger, Norway).

The Hurricanes scored the lone goal of the first half on a Deidre Bass shot from Ashley West. Miami opened the scoring in the second half when Alexis Mackenzie's shot sailed past sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Cancio (Hialeah, Fla.). Miami's third goal was scored with less than four minutes remaining in the match.

The Dolphins return to action Friday, Oct. 6 when they take on TAAC opponent UCF at 7 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
