Women's Soccer Travels to FSU for NCAA Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, FLa. - The Jacksonville University women's soccer team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., on Wednesday, Nov. 8 to take on the Lady Seminoles of Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament announced tonight by the NCAA committee.
The Dolphins faced Florida State in their second match of the season and lost 3-0. JU then went on to win a school-record 16 consecutive matches and finished the regular-season with a 17-2-0 overall record.
The Dolphins completed the Trans America Athletic Conference with an umblemished 9-0-0 record and defeated Florida Atlantic 2-1 Saturday afternoon for the University's first-ever women's soccer conference title.
During the 2000 season, the Dolphins set numerous school and TAAC records, including consecutive wins (16), wins in a season (19), league wins (9), shutouts in a season (11) and goals in a season (73).
The 2000 JU squad features TAAC Player of the Year, junior forward Trine Riis Groven (Skien, Norway), TAAC Coach of the Year, Mike Johnson and six other players who earned All-TAAC honors (Riis Groven, Marit Foss, Hanni Wenzell, Yvonna Rowinski, Stine Kloster and Tara Greggains). Foss leads the nation in assists with 28, including as assist on junior forward Karen Novak's (Coral Springs, Fla.) match-winning goal in the TAAC Tournament.
