JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's soccer team battled Georgia State to a 2-2 tie in Atlantic Sun action Saturday at the Ashley Sports Complex. Senior Vanessa Illanes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) scored her 10th goal of the season, while senior Brooke Moore (Tampa, Fla.) added her second goal of the season. The Dolphins, playing their third-straight overtime game, remain unbeaten in A-Sun play with a 6-0-2 record, while extending their overall unbeaten streak to 13 games.
Georgia State's Brooks Daniel tied the game in the 77th minute sending the game into overtime where the two teams failed to score. JU keeper Stephanie Fowler (Seffner, Fla.) made one save in overtime and four in the game for the Dolphins.
JU got out to an early lead as Ranveig Aas-Hanssen (Skien, Norway) was taken down in the box and Illanes capitalized on the penalty kick to give the Dolphins the 1-0 advantage. The Lady Panthers tied the game in the 18th minute as Kim Forrest found a loose ball in the box off a corner kick and placed the ball into the net. Moore gave the Dolphins a 2-1 lead at the half, scoring on an empty net after Lady Panthers keeper Alexa Pasquarelli misplayed a cross.
The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, as they travel to Orlando to take on UCF at 7 p.m. in a key Atlantic Sun conference match.
