Soccer's Vanessa Illanes Earns A-Sun Offensive Player-of-the-Week Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior midfielder Vanessa Illanes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) was named Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Illanes had four assists and a goal as the Dolphins went 2-0 in conference play and vaulted into first-place in the Atlantic Sun.
Illanes assisted on Michaelene Cadiz's (Lutz, Fla.) game-winning goal in the 90th minute in the Dolphins' 3-2 victory over host UCF on Wednesday, while tallying three assists and a goal in a 5-0 win over Stetson Saturday. Illanes' three-assist, five-point game was her second of the year and she has recorded a goal or an assist in all 10 of the Dolphins' conference games this season. The JU women are 13-1-2 overall, 8-0-2 in the A-Sun heading into Tuesday's game at No. 21 Florida State.
JU plays their regular-season and conference finale on Saturday at FAU at 7 p.m., in a game that will decide the A-Sun regular-season champion.
