The JU women's basketball team had an impact in the fight against breast cancer with another successful "Lick-a-Lid" event last week during Homecoming weekend.
The women's basketball program has collected 218 lids, with a goal of 250, and will continue to sell Yoplait yogurt through Dec. 12.
For a dollar, participants can purchase a single cup of yogurt and lick the lid to support research for breast cancer. For each lid that is licked, the Susan G. Komen Foundation will match 10 cents for the same donation. To help in the cause, stop by the women's basketball annex behind Swisher Gymnasium.
JU will also continue to sell limited edition T-shirts for $10 which will continue through National Think Pink week in February.
"We were extremely pleased with how well the Lick-a-Lid fundraiser went this past weekend," said JU head coach Jill Dunn. "We raised more money than in the past and people were extremely supportive with their donations. We know this effort will continue to help with the awareness and fight against breast cancer."
Other events on the schedule for the remainder of the season will be the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's national campaign of Think Pink Events in February. The week will start with a Mobile Mammography unit from St. Vincent's which will be located on campus prior to the home game against Mercer on Feb. 25.
After starting practice last week, the Dolphins are getting ready for their exhibition home opener on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m.
