NASHVILLE, Tenn. - JU vs. Steston Post Game Quotes:

Jacksonville

Coach Jill Dunn:

On the 61-47 win:

"Obviously, we are very happy and excited about our first win. We knew coming into the game we had a big challenge in Stetson, a team that had just beaten us on Saturday. Our kids did a great job of getting themselves fired up and motivated and ready for this game.

On flow of game and 13-0 surge in second half:

"I thought the biggest difference was our defense started picking it up. We started doing a much better job of collapsing on them in the post. Our guards kept coming out and putting a lot of pressure on the backcourt. We came up with some easy steals which led into transition baskets for us."

On Barkley scoring 20 points for Stetson:

"I thought she did a great job on the offensive boards in the first half. She got a lot of easy looks. She was determined. We were doing a great job collapsing and keeping them out, but we weren't boxing out. We had a talk about that at halftime. We decided we had to quit watching people going and getting rebounds. We had to be aggressive."

On the bench players:

"Our bench is doing a great job. They are playing their best basketball at this point. They are really coming in and giving us a spark. That is what we need. We have a lot of people who are keying on our key players. The more balanced we can be is crucial. This is the most balance and depth we have had since I have been in JU."

On Coach Dee Romine's final game:

"She has put a lot of years into the program at Stetson. She has done a great job at Stetson. She stayed in one place and really tried to build them. Obviously, anytime when you have a coach with that much game experience and that much winning you have to look up to them and try to learn something each game."

Virginia Gregoire, Guard

On the 13-0 run in the second half:

"Coach Dunn was really adamant in the huddle. She told us it was time for us to step up and play. It was do or die."

On the bench players:

"They help the team as a whole. It also helps their confidence when they come in and do something. It doesn't matter who is doing it as long as we are getting it done."

Regina Omoite, Guard

On the outcome of the game:

"I have to give Stetson a lot of respect. They gave us our all. In the postseason the records don't mean anything. You have to play hard in every game."
