Heiremans and Aas-Hanssen Earn First-Team Atlantic Sun All-Conference Honors For Women's Soccer

Nov. 5, 2003

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior forward Inge Heiremans (Tremelo, Belgium) and sophomore forward Ranveig Aas-Hanssen (Skien, Norway) were named First-Team Atlantic Sun All-Conference, announced Wednesday by the league office. Aas-Hanssen and Heiremans were the top two scorers, respectively, in the A-Sun during the regular season, and played a major role in JU's offensive success this season, as the Dolphins led the conference in scoring with 2.44 goals per game.

Aas-Hanssen, who earned A-Sun All-Freshman Team honors in 2002, led the A-Sun in goals (20) and points (43). She set a single-season record for goals at JU and tied the school record for goals in a single match with four against Belmont on Sept. 25. Aas-Hanssen had five multi-goal matches and had a streak of seven consecutive matches with at least one goal, which spanned 20 days, from Sept. 21- Oct. 10. She earned A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week honors on two occasions and is currently sixth in the nation in goals per game (1.11) and tied for ninth in points per game (2.39). In just two seasons, Aas-Hanssen with 30 goals, is fourth all-time at JU, along with 10 assists for 50 points.

Heiremans, who earned Second-Team Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors as a junior, leads the A-Sun in assists (10), while ranking second in points (28) and fourth in goals (9). She recorded a career-high four assists against Belmont, which ties her for the most assists in a single match for JU women's soccer. Heiremans finishes her career at JU fifth all-time in points (64), goals (23) and assists (18). She is currently tied for 21st in the nation with 0.56 assists per game.

The Dolphins, who have appeared in four of the last five A-Sun Conference tournaments, finished the injury-plagued season with a record of 6-12, 4-6 in the A-Sun.
