Women's Soccer Picked Sixth in Atlantic Sun Coaches' Poll

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic Sun Conference, according to the annual preseason coaches' poll released by the league office today. The Dolphins, which closed 2003 with a 6-12 record, open the regular season Friday Aug. 27 vs. Northeastern at the FAU Kick-Off Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.

Defending A-Sun tournament champion UCF was picked to win the league, while Florida Atlantic, the 2004 regular season co-champion, was picked second. Georgia State, Campbell and Stetson rounded out the top five.

The Dolphins return five starters from 2003, including senior defender Lauren Starmer (Oviedo, Fla.) and junior midfielder Amber Otto (DeLand, Fla.). Also returning for first-year head coach Chris Kouns is sophomore forward Jenny Borschel (St. Petersburg, Fla.), who is the Dolphins' top returning scorer (4 G, 3 A).
