ORLANDO, Fla. - A great battle for 65 minutes became one-sided after an ejection, as UCF defeated Jacksonville University, 2-0, in women's soccer action Sunday evening at the UCF Soccer Field. Sophomore defender Morgan Marinell (Ft. Myers, Fla.) received a red card at 66:23, putting the Dolphins down a player the rest of the match. The Golden Knights capitalized immediately, when Jennifer Montgomery scored the game-winner on the ensuing free kick. Allison Blagriff added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to put the game out of reach. The Golden Knights move to 12-3-1, 7-2 in the Atlantic Sun, while JU drops to 4-8-2, 3-3-1 in conference play.

"The girls played their hearts out tonight," head coach Chris Kouns said. "It's just unfortunate that they did not get to decide the outcome of the game."

In all, there were five yellow cards with the one red handed out, three of those yellows coming in a two-minute stretch after UCF's goals. The Golden Knights had 10 fouls, including two yellow cards, called against them in the second half, compared to three fouls against JU.

UCF outshot the Dolphins, 18-11, and took one more corner kick than JU, 4-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Kmiotek (Tampa, Fla.) grabbed six saves in the contest.

The Dolphins return home Thursday, Oct. 21, to take on Gardner-Webb at 3 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
