JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite outshooting Gardner-Webb, 24-8, the Dolphin women's soccer team could not find the net, instead settling for a 0-0 tie to the Bulldogs Thursday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex. Jacksonville (4-8-3, 3-3-2 A-Sun) completed the second scoreless draw of the year, matching their opening-weekend shutout of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Both goalkeepers worked for their shutout, with Gardner-Webb's Corinne Razem grabbing nine saves and JU's Michelle Kmiotek (Tampa, Fla.) stopping four shots. It was Kmiotek's third shutout of the season and the fifth for the Dolphins. JU's defensive backline had a great game, holding the Bulldogs' Leeanna Woodworth, the nation's top goal scorer, to only one shot on goal in the match.

JU had numerous scoring chances, taking nine shots on goal along with seeing two shots hit the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, redshirt freshman Stephanie Elgie (London, Ontario) had a header nick the top of the goal, while freshman Louisa Ward (Tampa, Fla.) had her header chance in the 107th minute hit the bar as well.

"We are really playing good soccer right now," said head coach Chris Kouns. "This is our second great effort in a row. We did an excellent job defensively, keeping Gardner-Webb from getting any good looks at goal. Hopefully, we can continue to play well and pick up a win."

JU faces Atlantic Sun leader Campbell Saturday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Ashley Sports Complex.
