July 25, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman midfielder Katie Orr (London, Ontario) earned the Alex Kelman SPECTRA Award for showing the best combination of sportsmanship, participation, excellence, character, teamwork, respect and achievement in London and Middlesex County. The award, presented at the London Sports Celebrity Dinner and Auction at the convention centre, was named after the late CFPL-TV sportscaster. Orr, a four-sport athlete at Aquinas High School, will compete in her first season as a member of the Dolphin women's soccer program this fall.

Orr participated in the Canadian National Team Prospects Clinic under head coach Evan Pelleruad and led her club team to a bronze medal at the Ontario Summer Games. Orr also hails from the same London United club team as current Dolphin Stephanie Elgie (London, Ontario).

"Katie has already been selected as a freshman member of our captain's council this fall," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "To have her win this award shows the kind of impact she will bring to our program."
