Aug. 25, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- - After more than two weeks of preseason camp, the Jacksonville University women's soccer team opens its 2005 season by traveling to Huntington, W. Va., to participate in the Marshall Invitational.

The Dolphins open the tournament against Pittsburgh at 5 p.m on Friday and wrap up their trip against Duquesne on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Under first-year head coach Chris Kouns, the Dolphins finished 5-9-5 last season and advanced to the semifinals of the A-Sun tournament.

"Our goal is to be one game better in the conference tournament," Kouns said. "We believe that's an attainable goal."

The Dolphins return nine starters including sophomore forward Stephanie Elgie and junior midfielder Hilary Bricken. Elgie was a member of the 2004 Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team and tied for the team lead in goals with five.
