Box Score

MACON, Ga.- - Sophomore Stephanie Elgie scored a goal off the bench, but Mercer scored two second half goals to down the Jacksonville women's soccer team, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in Macon, Ga.

"You have to give a great deal of credit to Mercer," said head coach Chris Kouns. "They out fought us in effort and out played us on the ground. It was a bad day for our freshman to play like freshman and have no upperclassmen leadership; both are things we have been battling with all season."

Trailing 2-0 in the second half, Elgie put the Dolphins (3-6-3, 1-2-1 A-Sun) on the board by beating the Bears goalie one on one for her fourth goal of the season from an assist by freshman Michelle Lavine at the 12-minute mark.

"One of the bright spots today was Stephanie Elgie coming off the bench and playing well." Kouns said. "Angela Hulse and Keri Zwikker also played great today."

The Bears (5-10, 2-4 A-Sun) scored on a breakaway with less than two minutes remaining in the game to quash the Dolphins) chances of coming back.

The Dolphins return home this Tuesday to face Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m.
