Women's soccer falls to Stetson in regular-season finale, 2-0

DELAND, Fla.- - Stetson scored a goal in each half to down the Jacksonville women's soccer team, 2-0, Friday night in the Atlantic Sun action at DeLand, Fla.

"For every step we took forward in the UNF game, we took a step backwards tonight," said head coach Chris Kouns. You have to give Stetson credit because they out fought us tonight. Hopefully we can come out with a little more effort in the conference tournament than we showed in the game."

The Hatters (8-11-0, 4-6-0 A-Sun) grabbed an the initial lead at the 39-minute mark in the first half when Kelly Kuenning scored on a header from a cross by Kim Oostdyk. Sarah Stock scored with less than ten minutes remaining in the second half to put the game out of reach for the Dolphins (7-9-3, 4-5-1 A-Sun).

Freshman Keri Zwikker, Michelle Lavine and Heidi Dettmer each had two shots on goal for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to compete in the first round of the A-Sun Conference Tournament starting Thursday, Nov. 3.
