Oct. 12, 2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore forward Keri Zwikker was named "Player of the Week" after scoring a pair of goals to lead women's soccer to a 2-0 win over Gardner-Webb at the Ashley Sports Complex on Oct. 7.

This is Zwikker's second player of the week accolade by the website after receiving the honor last season. She earned her first honor on Oct. 18, 2005 after notching nine goals, two assists and 20 points in a three game span to help the Dolphins to three consecutive victories.

"We are excited that Keri was recognized for her efforts this past weekend," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "After her success last year, she has been the focal point for every defense we have faced this year. Even with all of the attention, she has still done a great job this year and this past weekend it led us to an important conference win"

In the second half against the Bulldogs, Zwikker scored her team-leading fourth goal of year after beating the defender and goalie on an assist from senior Jenny Borschel to give the Dolphins (7-6, 2-3 A-Sun) a 1-0 advantage at the 68-minute mark.

The duo hooked up again less than two minutes later as Zwikker launched a shot into the net from the right side of the field for the 2-0 lead.

The Dolphins are search of their third consecutive A-Sun tournament berth as they take on Belmont tonight in Nashville, Tenn. at 7 p.m.
