Oct. 14, 2006
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Senior Jenny Borschel added her third goal of the season to help the Jacksonville University women's soccer team down Lipscomb, 1-0, in Atlantic Sun Conference action to wrap up their road trip on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins (9-6, 4-3 A-Sun) recorded their fourth consecutive shutout and eighth of the season. Senior goalie Michelle Kmiotek recorded her 17th career shutout, building on her own school record and ranking in a tie for ninth all-time in conference history. Her eighth shutouts in 2006 are also 10th on the single-season list in the A-Sun.
Kmiotek made four saves in the match to bring her career total up to 287, which is the program's all-time mark and it ranks seventh all-time in the A-Sun.
"It was another great defensive effort on our part," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "Unfortunately, we are not as good at attacking as we should be right now. We are struggling at getting balls forward, but we should be able to fix that in practice.
Borschel scored less seven minutes into the match on an assist by sophomore Keri Zwikker.
"It was another super effort by Michelle, Keri and Jenny," Kouns said. "They are playing well and we are living off their success."
Cally Warren led the Bisions (1-15, 0-7 A-Sun) by tallying two shots on goal and goalie Katie Shelton made 13 saves on 19 shots.
The Dolphins return to the Ashley Sports Complex to face A-Sun foe Mercer on Thursday Oct 19. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
