Oct. 18, 2006

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University women's soccer team will ride a season-high four-match winning streak into the Ashley Sports Complex for two key Atlantic Sun Conference games starting on Thursday.

The Dolphins (9-6, 4-3 A-Sun) open the week with Mercer at 7 p.m. and finish with the home finale on Saturday against in-state rival Stetson at 6 p.m. A victory in either one of these matches should secure JU their third consecutive berth in the A-Sun Conference Tournament.

Another victory in the next three matches win also give the Dolphins their first double-digit win total since the 2002 season.

"We are very excited about the position we have put ourselves in after shutting out four straight opponents," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "If we continue with our solid defensive effort and get some help from other teams, then we have a chance to finish second in the conference. It has been a while since JU has finished that high. Hopefully, we will continue to play well and then see what happens."

The Dolphins are in the midst of a four consecutive shutout victories after a pair of wins over Belmont and Lipscomb in Nashville last week.

Sophomore Keri Zwikker scored the game-winning goal in the Dolphins' 1-0 win over the Bruins, while senior Michelle Kmiotek recorded seven saves to become the program's new all-time leader.

Kmiotek continued her hot streak by tallying her eighth shutout of the season (17th career) in the Dolphins' 1-0 victory against the Bisions on Oct. 14. Senior Jenny Borschel scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Zwikker.

Earlier this week, Kimotek earned her second A-Sun Defensive "Player of the Week" honor for her two shutouts in Nashville.
