Women's soccer faces East Tennessee State in the Atlantic Sun Tournament on Thursday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After making two straight trips to the Atlantic Sun Conference semifinals, the Jacksonville University women's soccer team will look go one step further this season as they take on East Tennessee State in the first round of the conference tournament on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Kennesaw, Ga.

"We are looking forward to the start of our second season this week," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "Now that we achieved the first goal of the year, to make the tournament, we can focus on giving our best effort and representing ourselves as best we can. Hopefully, with a little luck and a lot of heart we will find the success the girls worked for all year long."

The Dolphins (9-9, 4-5 A-Sun) fell in the season finale at No. 6 Florida State, 3-0, on Oct. 24.

Senior goalie Michelle Kmiotek made career-best 17 saves against a Seminole school-record 42 shots in the match. Her 17 stops give her 127 for the season and 316 in her career, which ranks six all-time in A-Sun history.
