Women's soccer heads to Brazil on Sunday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The defending 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Champion JU women's soccer team will spend spring break overseas as they travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil for starting on Sunday.

On the trip, the Dolphins will play games against the Paulista Football Club, Grêmio Motorola and Guarani FC, while also getting to watch two professionals games.

JU plans to visit the beach of Santos, where native son and world famous Pele played his club soccer. The Dolphins also plan to visit a local children's hospital to donate soccer equipment for the children.

"We are all looking forward to this trip," said JU head coach Chris Kouns. "Our team will be able to experience a different culture and see how soccer in really played. This should be a trip of a lifetime for all of us soccer fans."

On the field in 2006, the Dolphins posted their first double-digit win total since 2002, their second A-Sun Championship in school history and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
