Softball's Falls To No. 23 Florida, 1-0, at Cox Communications Classic

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - JU junior righthander Stacey Bell (Jacksonville, Fla./Terry Parker) pitched a complete-game three hitter and allowed just one run against No. 23 Florida, but the host Gators shut out the Dolphins, 1-0, Friday at the Cox Communications Classic in Gainesville. JU lost its first game of the day to Gardner-Webb, 4-0. The Dolphins (7-10) managed just seven hits in the two games and left 11 runners on base.

Sophomore Katie Dobson (Clearwater, Fla.) suffered the loss in game one, despite throwing a shutout until the sixth inning, when the Bulldogs used a two-out rally to score three runs. Junior left fielder Mayte Diaz (Silver springs, Fla.) had a pair of hits on the day for JU.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday against Western Michigan at 10:00 a.m. and Winthrop at 12:30 p.m. on day two of the Cox Communications Classic.
