LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Senior third baseman Sonja Cadarette's (Jacksonville/Sandalwood) two-run triple sparked a three-run rally in the top of the seventh inning as JU came from behind to beat Long Island, 6-5, at Jim Rogers Field at the UNLV Classic in Las Vegas. Senior centerfielder Monica McGee (Starke, Fla.) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored for JU (8-19), which won for the first time in six games. Long Island (1-13) led 5-3 heading into the final inning. The Dolphins play host UNLV and Southern Utah on Saturday.

Lauren Redfern (Jacksonville/Sandalwood) led off the top of the seventh with a pinch-hit single. Following a pop out to left field, Kacey Yourous (Radcliffe, Ky.) reached on an error by Busick and then McGee singled to right. However, Redfern got caught in a run-down and was thrown out rounding second. Cadarette then slapped a two-out triple to right clearing the bases and tying the game at 5-5. Two pitches later, Cadarette scored the gamewinner on a wild pitch. Senior second baseman Ronda Campo (Kirkland, Wash.) made a diving over-the-shoulder catch in shallow right field to end the game with winning run on base.

Sophomore righthander Katie Dobson (Clearwater, Fla.) earned the win for JU, allowing five run on nine hits in 7.0 innings of work, but did not allow a run the final three innings. Jessica Busick suffered the loss for the Blackbirds after surrendering six runs (three earned) on eight hits while walking four.

JU jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play, but Long Island exploded for four runs on six hits in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead. The Blackbirds added a run in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a wild pitch and passed ball. Leah Glenn and Sayde Marzolf each had two hits to lead Long Island.
