Aug. 30, 2007
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's and women's cross country teams open their 2007 season on the banks of the St. Johns River on Friday by hosting the JU Short Course Duals. The women's 3K will start at 5 p.m. and the men's 5K will begin at 5:30.
"Coach (Karl) Byrne and I are anxious to see the results of Friday's competition," said head coach Ron Grigg. "It will serve as a good early season evaluation of the summer training, and will allow us to plan the next two months of training."
The other schools participating in the event will be Florida A&M, North Florida, Savannah State and Stetson.
The Dolphin women were selected to finish fourth in the 2007 A-Sun Preseason Coaches Poll with the return of Danielle Coyle, Alyssa Deal, and Tiffanie Saxton. New to the team this year will be Anastasia Folkina, Janel Grooms, and Alison Ritter.
The men's team will field the largest roster under Grigg's tenure and looks to continue their improvement.
