Sept. 6, 2007

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After opening the 2007 season last weekend, the JU women's cross country team will compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday at the University of Florida's golf course.

The meet will consist of 21 schools from the state of Florida and will serve as a preview of the NCAA Regional championship course. The schools taking place are Central Florida, Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Miami, North Florida, Nova Southeastern, Pasco-Hernando CC, Rollins, Saint Leo, South Florida, Stetson, Tampa, Warner, Southern, Webber and West Florida.

"This will be our first effort over the 5k distance, said JU head coach Ron Grigg. "We should have some confidence after last Friday's effort. Our team finish will largely be determined by the performances of our number three, four and five runners."

The Dolphins will be looking to improve on their second-place finish last week at the JU Short Course Duals. Freshman Anastasia Fokina and sophomore Alyssa Deal led the way for the Dolphins, finishing second and third respectively. Sophomores Alison Ritter, Tiffanie Saxton, and junior Janel Grooms also placed well for the Dolphins.
