Women's Tennis Begins Play At ITA Southern Regional

ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) advanced to the third round of Flight B singles with a pair of wins to lead the Dolphins on Friday in the first day of action at the ITA Southern Regional held at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Hajbane defeated Nadia Dellarcipreta of UAB, 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3, before winning by default over Kim Wollett of Georgia Southern to advance to the third round in Flight B. In Flight A, sophomore Veronika Subertova (Bratislavia, Slovakia) fell to Katarina Palenikova of South Alabama, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. Freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) won her first round match in Flight A, defeating Milica Milovanovic of Stetson, 6-3, 6-2.
In Flight B, sophomore Martina Strussova (Bratislavia, Slovakia) advanced to the second round with a bye before falling to Marina Levin of Stetson, 6-3, 6-1. Senior Kim Packer (Adelaide, Australia) advanced to the second round with a win over Claire Conerly of Ole Miss, 6-1, 7-6(5), while senior Kristina Puck (Hamburg, Germany) dropped her first round match to Courtney Jonson of FIU, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
The Dolphins continue play on Saturday at the ITA Southern Regional at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
