Women's Tennis Opens Play At Lady Seminole Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) advanced to the quarterfinal round of Flight A singles to lead the Dolphins on Friday in the first day of action at the Lady Seminole Classic held at Florida State's Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
Sulyos advanced to the second round with a bye, before defeating Hanaa Rhazi of Houston, 6-2, 6-2. Junior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) also played in Flight A and dropped her first round match to Brown of Florida A&M, 6-4, 6-2.
In Flight B singles, senior Kim Packer (Adelaide, Australia) fell to Sophie Hartog of Stetson, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Kristina Puck (Hamburg, Germany) won in the first round in straight sets over Jennifer Wisnoski of Stetson, 6-1, 6-2, before falling to Nicole Cercone of Florida State, 6-4, 0-6, 6-0.
In Flight A doubles, Sulyos and Puck had a bye to advance to the second round, before defeating the team of Craig of USF and Hayden of Stetson, 8-4, to reach the third round. Hajbane and Packer won their first round match in Flight B, defeating Lohmos and Samara of UCF, 8-3, but fell to Denny and Mihailescu of Florida State in a close match, 8-6.
The Dolphins continue play on Saturday at the Lady Seminole Classic at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
