Women's Tennis Upsets South Florida, 4-3

TAMPA, Fla. - The JU women's tennis team rallied to upset South Florida, 4-3, thanks to excellent overall singles play on Friday afternoon on the USF campus. Freshman Emese Sulyos (Szolnok, Hungary) took No. 1 singles and sophomore Veronika Subertova (Bratislava, Slovakia) won her No. 2 singles match, while junior Nisrine Hajbane (Casablanca, Morocco) and senior Kristina Puck (Hamburg, Germany) were victorious at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Hajbane's 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over freshman Yuri Kurashima clinched the match for JU, which, after losing the doubles point to USF, rallied to take four of six singles matches for their first win of the season.

JU returns to action when they host Wofford on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
